the ecology of perception
In an old land cruiser, overland from Zimbabwe to Botswana, Okavango Delta, Caprivi Strip, Etosha, Sossusvlei, and finally the Atlantic, coast of Namibia. A humbling ad inspiring journey, witnessing the intense passion of African life, taking forms uninterrupted by ice ages. When contaminated fuel caused repeated breakdowns in the desert, I realised how powerless we were. At home, we can always light a fire to warm up, and melt snow for water. Here, there was no escaping the 40 degree heat, and if we ran out of water, we would be hooped.
